Jacki,
Hi there! I’m a 3rd year law student moving to NYC in Sept to start a new job. I know I have a few months, but I just found you on craigslist and I wanted to get in touch. You seem fabulous, and just who I need to help me find the perfect little spot.
I might be up in May to start looking around at neighborhoods. I’m thinking West Village, but don’t really know what the hell I’m talking about…that’s where you come in, right?
Have a great day, and I’ll be in touch again soon. Yay! R
Hi Jacki,
I just checked out one of your West Village studio listings on Craigslist, which i loved and the price was good, but I am not quite ready to move just yet (lease isn’t up). My questions for you is, do you think the current prices for apartments will last for a while (they have come down considerably)? and once you move into the apartment will the rent skyrocket the next year? Thanks for any info you can provide. Hoping to move this summer!!
What WILL the market do…GOOD QUESTION!! Prices have dropped about 20-25% since last summer in response to the economic situation. In general, prices tend to go up in the peak months (May-September) and drop in the winter (esp. February). While I’m seeing prices go up a little as the market quickens–I don’t think they’ll go as far as where they were last summer.
Hi Jacquelyn,
I sent the email below to your jacquelynl@markdavidny.com but it bounced back. Hopefully you get this!
Hi Jacquelyn,
I have seen a few of your postings on Craigslist and I think they are really great (ie: http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/fee/1419707172.html) and I love your blog…totally hilarious. My friend and I are both first year associates at a NY law firm and are looking for a modern/newly remodeled (not old) 2 bedroom/ (would love to have also a 2 bath), but we are looking for a Jan. 1 move in. We are considering a maximum total rent of $3800, but of course would be very happy to be able to pay less than that. We are considering the following neighborhoods: greenwich village, west village, meatpacking, union square. We are in our late 20s and definitely want to be in a fun neighborhood. Our firm is located at the 53rd and Lexington subway stop and would like to be near a subway stop that hits that station. If you have any apts. that will become available beginning January, I would really appreciate you contacting me regarding your listings.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
thanks,
Chris
